Country House near Ávila

If you're looking for a country house near Ávila, Casa Hechizo is in the Coto de San Isidro estate, in Ituero y Lama (Segovia), about 20 minutes by car from the city. And just over an hour from Madrid, it's a great base for discovering Ávila while enjoying the peace of the countryside.
What to see in Ávila
Ávila is a UNESCO World Heritage city and a classic day trip. The must-sees:
- The city walls: one of the best-preserved medieval walled enclosures in Europe. You can walk a good stretch along the top.
- The cathedral, which is built into the walls themselves.
- The Basilica of San Vicente, a Romanesque gem.
- The Cuatro Postes viewpoint, for the classic photo of the whole walled city, especially at sunset.
- Saint Teresa's Ávila: the convent and the old town follow her story.
What to eat
Don't leave without trying the chuletón de Ávila (a T-bone steak), the local judías del Barco beans and, for dessert, the yemas de Santa Teresa.
Back at the house
After a day of walls and steak, the best thing is to head back to Casa Hechizo: a 1,000 m² garden with holm oaks, a porch with a barbecue, a living room with a fireplace and room for up to 10 people. The kids can carry on with the trampoline or the mini golf while the grown-ups relax on the porch.
And if you're staying a few days, round off the plan with a trip to Segovia, also very close, or one of our hiking trails in the area.
